Joshua Rubin, MD, PhD Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Hematology and Oncology has been awarded the Pioneer Award for Pediatric Neuro-Oncology from the Children’s Brain Tumor Foundation (CBTF).  A non-profit organization, CBTF was founded in 1988 by dedicated parents, physicians and friends. Their mission is to improve the treatment, quality of life and the long term outlook for children with brain and spinal cord tumors through research, support, education, and advocacy to families and survivors.

Dr. Rubin graduated from Yale with a BS in Biology then moved to Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he completed an MSc and a PhD in Neuroscience and an MD.  He then served his residency in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital, after which he joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School, Children’s Hospital of Boston, Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  Washington University was fortunate to recruit him in 2003 to the Department of Pediatrics with joint appointments in the Department of Neurology and Anatomy and Neurobiology, where he has taken several leadership roles including Co-Director of the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program, Co-Leader of the Developmental Biology and Cancer Program at the Siteman Cancer Center, and Co-Leader of the Solid Tumor Therapeutics Program.
